Bishop William ‘Pumpkin’ Smith Jr. Covington, Ga., Formerly of Monessen

Bishop William SmithOnce again, the heavenly bound train stopped in Covington, Ga., Saturday, April 15, and beckoned for Bishop William Smith Jr.  and he answered the call. Bishop Smith was born and raised in Monessen by his late parents, William and Blanch Smith. He was blessed to meet the mother of his children, Ola Mae McBride. They raised four children, Wilhemina Goodlow of Penn Hills, William Lester (Heather) Smith of McKeesport, Michele R. Graciano of McKeesport, and Tasha L. Smith of Trafford. He also had an extended adopted family; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Smith of Covington, Ga.; his children and grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Anderson of Louisville, Ky., and Flora Howland (Don) of Shadyside, Ohio. All services will be from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 230 Reed Ave., Monessen. Viewing, Friday, April 21, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; service, Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m., Bishop Karl Jackson, pastor, officiating.
