Carl Rakosky – Bentleyville

Carl Rakosky, 92, of Bentleyville, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. He was born May 17, 1925, in Fallowfield Township, son of the late John and Anna Szukesky Rakosky. A coal miner, Mr. Rakosky retired from the U.S. Steel Maple Creek Mine. For over 25 years he worked as a milkman, making home deliveries for Country Belle and various other dairies. Mr. Rakosky was devoted to his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking Sunday dinners for his family and was a fan of the Steelers and Penguins. Carl was a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville campus. On June 26, 1948, he married Pauline Haney Rakosky, who survives. They celebrate 68 years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife, are four children; Douglas Rakosky (Joanne Rabenold) of the Villages, Fla., Gregory Rakosky (Joan) of Charleroi, Kathy Rakosky of Bentleyville, and Rene Dunfee´ (Gary) of Bentleyville; two sisters, Steffania Gregorie of Chico, Calif., and Ann Sotack of Bentleyville; daughter-in-law, Pamela Rakosky of Elco; brother-in-law, Robert Higareda (Millie) of Indiana, Pa.; grandchildren, Ryan Rakosky (Kellie), Jennifer Rakosky, Carlie Rakosky Woods (Christopher), Timothy Rakosky, Gina Rakosky-Ober (Eric), Justin Rakosky, Jenna Rakosky, Halie Magyar (Christopher), Jeremy Crow (Valarie); three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents, is a son, Paul M. Rakosky; brother-in-law, Paul Arthur Haney; three brothers, John, Andrew and Joseph Rakosky; and a sister, Helene Rakosky. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville campus with the Rev. Paul J. Grunebach, senior parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Father Fred Pfeil will lead a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
