William T. Gardner, 61, of Fayette City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, in his residence. He was born Dec. 4, 1955, in North Charleroi, son of William Gardner Jr. and Elsie Tarney Gardner. He worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant, as a foreman. Bill was a member of the Washington Township VFC, was a past member and president of the Fayette City VFC and was Chief of the Jefferson Township VFC at one time. Bill was also a member of the Fayette City Post 484 American Legion Riders, Tri-County Masonic Lodge No. 252 and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In Bill’s younger years, he was an avid hockey player and often talked about the time his team played hockey in Fletcherton, Canada. Bill also loved his pets, Snowball, Precious and Princess. Bill is survived by his mother, Elsie Gardner of Fayette City; daughter, Michele Riggin of Dawson; son; William Gardner of Lowber, Fayette City; and son, Christopher Gardner and wife, Angela of Brentwood; brother, James P. Gardner of Fayette City; five grandchildren, Kenny and Kelsey Riggin, Brian, Brandon and Brooklyn Gardner; and one great-granddaughter, Braylee. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Fayette City.
