Bernardo Manetta, 86, of Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at 4:45 p.m. at Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. Born April 3, 1931, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Bernadino and Rose LaCarte Manetta. “Old Uncle” graduated from Monessen High School; afterwards he graduated from the Los Angeles Art Center School of Design in 1954, with highest honors. He went to work for General Motors, Cadillac Design Division in Detroit, and later worked for Ford Motor Company. Later in life he worked as an architect and landscape designer in Los Angeles. He also lived for several years in Boulder, Colo. He resided the past 20 years at the Belle Vernon high rise apartments. He is survived by two daughters, Melinda Manett Conrad of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mandra Manett of Cayucos, Calif.; three grandchildren, Casey Lynn Cervantes and husband, Esequiel, Justin Jay Conrad and Angel Michelle Conrad; two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Kaylee; a brother, Gene Manetta of Smithton; sister-in-law, Joanne Manetta of Belle Vernon; nieces and nephews, Vince Manetta of Belle Vernon, Susan Smith of Monessen and Mariana King and Gino Manetta, both of Smithton. He was also previously married in 1953, to Joyce Parker Manett of Cayucos, Calif. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent “Jim” Manetta and Frank Manetta; a grandson, John Cody Jackson; and a son-in-law, V. Jay Conrad.
