John I. Ford Jr., 64, of Charleroi, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 22, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Okla., he was the son of the late John I. Sr. and Meta Sue Hanneck Ford. For many years John was known for working as a painter and a handyman around the Valley. Stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, he served in the U.S. Air force during the Vietnam Era. Surviving are his wife, Denise Davis Ford, whom he married Aug. 9, 1971; a son and daughter-in-law, John I. III and Stacy Ford of Johnstown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Valisa and Jacob Welsh of Virginia Beach, Va., and Selina Ford of North Charleroi; a brother, Donald (Lynn) Ford of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a sister, Karla (Bob) Bevlin of Orlando, Fla.; his stepmother, Voncile Ford in Biloxi, Miss.; four grandchildren, Jordan, Zane, Grayson and Bella and was looking forward to the birth of his fifth grandchild in January along with many nieces and nephews.
