Leopold M. Regal, 92 of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, in Mt. Macrina Manor, Uniontown. He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Fairhope, Fayette County, son of John Regal and Adella Gugenberger Regal. Leopold was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II as a coxswain, where he received the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a 64-year member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and a member of the Belle Vernon Moose. He was retired from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. Leopold’s passions were photography, boating, Mon Valley history and trains. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Della Ryder Regal; five nephews, Walter Regal and wife Dolly, Ed Antol and wife Debbie, Nick Antol, Ron Regal and wife Patty and Tony Regal and wife Angela; niece, Nicole Gillock and husband Eugene; numerous great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John Regal, mother, Adella Gugenberger Regal; sister, Ann Regal Antol; and two brothers, Joseph and Walter Regal. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later time in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon.
