Carol Ann Baron, 61 of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Monessen, passed away on Nov 4, 2017, in Kindred Hospital, Louisville. She was born on Oct. 18, 1956, in North Charleroi, daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary Talpas Baron of Monessen. Carol graduated from Monessen High School in 1974 and Slippery Rock University in 1978 with a degree in elementary/special education. She taught in the Jefferson County school district and received her master’s degree in education from the University of Louisville, before earning her principal’s certification. She served as Principal of Fairdale Elementary School until her retirement and was recently employed as an executive director at Portland Promise Center in Louisville. Carol is survived by her sisters, Jeri (Jim) Roman of Monongahela, and Michele Cope of Belle Vernon; nephews and nieces, Jim Roman of Hollidaysburg, Jeffrey Roman, Jennifer Roman-Leoni, Neil Cope, Daniel Cope and Christie Thompson, all of Belle Vernon; several great-nieces and nephews; two aunts, Ann Dyky of Monessen, and Cecilia Kubik of North Versailles; numerous cousins; special friends, Terry and Judy Brooks and their family in Louisville. Private services will be held per Carol’s request. The FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela is in charge of the arrangements.
