Legal aspects of an altercation involving five Bunola firefighters have been resolved, but the department will no longer be recognized by Forward Township.
A Nov. 27 letter Solicitor Matthew Racunas sent to the Bunola Volunteer Fire Department stated: “The township believes it is in its best interest to no longer recognize the Bunola Fire Department as a volunteer fire department servicing the citizens of Forward Township.”
As a result, the township will no longer pay for insurance or workers compensation for the department, and equipment owned by the township – including fire trucks and other vehicles – were to be returned by Monday.
