Paul Brilla, 92, of Star Junction, Pa., formerly of Fayette City, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown. Born March 6, 1925 in Arnold City, he was the son of the late Michael and Pauline Frachta Brilla. A resident of Star Junction for the past four years, Mr. Brilla was Catholic by faith and was a retired roller from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant. He was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Navy, member of the Perryopolis VFW Post 7023, Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Fairhope Rod & Gun Club and the Youngwood Moose Lodge. Paul was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by four children, Karen Hazelbaker and husband, Arthur, of Greensburg, Paula Shepard of Baton Rouge, La., Cindy Skoda of Star Junction, and Michael Brilla of Baton Rouge, La; two grandchildren, James Lahti and Michelle Sosnak; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Turner; and two great-great grandchildren, Matthew Rock and Jason Rock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Fiori Brilla, on Jan. 23, 2017, and five sisters. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, 724-736-2515, followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m. at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations with the Rev. Francisco R. Gan Jr. officiating. Members of St. John the Baptist Church will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Paul Brilla 3 p.m. Friday and the Perryopolis VFW Post 7023 will conduct services 7 p.m. Friday all in the funeral home.
