THE OPIOID CRISIS has long been a disaster for Pennsylvania, and now it will be treated like one.
Gov. Tom Wolf issued a public health emergency Wednesday and ordered the creation of a command center to handle opioid abuse like a weather-related crisis. The disaster declaration, which will be in effect for 90 days, will expand access to the state’s prescription drug monitoring program and make it easier for doctors to get people into drug treatment.
