Shirley L. Cain – Bunola

 

Shirley L. Cain, 84, of Bunola, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Monongahela, the daughter of Lester Craig and Mary Ulych Marraccini. A lifelong resident of Bunola, Shirley attended Bunola Elementary School and was a graduate of Elizabeth High School. She worked as a clerk at McCrory’s 5 &10 store in Monongahela and upon graduation was employed as a secretary/receptionist for Pittsburgh Pipe and Thread Company in Elizabeth. Shirley also sold Avon for numerous years. When she was younger, she belonged to a group of girls called “The Bunola Belles” who performed plays in the area. She loved crafts, baking, working crossword puzzles, bowling, car racing and watching NASCAR on television. She enjoyed going out to eat with her lady friends on Tuesdays and the women from the Bunola Fire Company. Shirley was the bingo caller for Bunola Fire Company, a job she truly enjoyed, and was a member of the Patriot’s Bowling League in White Oak. She loved people and would do anything for anybody. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Bailey of Elizabeth; two sons, John H. Cain Jr. and wife Susan of Grindstone, and James Cain and wife Chris of Jefferson Hills; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Cataldo of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Cain Sr., who died April 25, 2001; her daughter, Cynthia Anthony who died May 21, 2011; and sister, Betty Sarnoskie, who died Feb. 15, 2015. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
