Now that the Community College of Allegheny County has officially passed on the idea of opening a branch campus in the former Donora Elementary Center building, council members are starting to consider what else could be done with the property.
Councilman Dennis Gutierrez told council last week that he’s been thinking about the costs of maintaining the building.
“We have a school on the hill, the old high school, the old elementary school and we have to do something with that,” Gutierrez said. “I’ve been talking to other council members, it’s costing us every month. We need to market the property to investors and buyers. We need to make that happen. We can’t wait two more years for more promises.”
