Editorial: State won’t fix Monessen standoff

THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR from the state to local governments: Don’t expect us to clean up your mess.

That was the answer we found as we contacted state officials in search of a remedy for the continuing problem in Monessen, where Mayor Matt Shorraw and Councilman Gil Coles refuse to attend council meetings.
