McKeesport awards demolition contract for 94 blighted homes

While votes and talk of renovations of city-owned or maintained facilities largely dominated the McKeesport council agenda meeting Wednesday, there was also talk of destruction of blighted properties.
Council unanimously voted to award a $679,000 contract to Pittsburgh-based Jadell Minniefeld Construction for the demolition of 94 homes located on Auberle, Beech Converse, Eaton, Erie, Federal, Freemont, Garbett, Gas, Grant, Hamilton, Jenny Lind, Jersey, Maple, Ravine, Sarah, Soles, Stewart, White and Flagler streets, and on Evans and Sylvan avenues.
