Editorial: Grandparents raising children get help from state
Among the many tragedies brought on by the opioid crisis is the effect it is having on families. Many mothers and fathers are no longer able to function as parents, either because of incarceration or due to the side effects of their addiction.
Pennsylvania took steps toward addressing that situation Tuesday as Gov. Tom Wolf signed two bills, including legislation that provides temporary guardianship to other relatives in three-month increments when parents can’t care for their children.
