Editorial: Honoring a great police dog
Monongahela said good-bye to a 10-year veteran of the police force Monday at a memorial service for K-9 Officer Beny.
The city’s first K-9 officer when he joined the force in 2008, Beny died Friday at age 12, shortly after completing a midnight shift. He was a valuable member of the department, helping with cases that involved narcotics, crowd control, tracking and other areas where his canine instincts came in handy. He also served with the Washington County Drug Task Force.
