California Area junior going solo

He is a member of California Area High School’s “The Future is Mine” club, and soon, Nathan Todd will have his shirt tail cut off.
It’s a tradition that dates back to the early days of aviation, when a pilot or flight instructor generally sat behind a student pilot. Prior to the advent of radios, that instructor would tug on the shirttail of the student, indicating that instructions would be forthcoming.
