Editorial: Help others through our Christmas Cheer Club
IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR, and we are once more calling on our readers to help needy children in the Mid-Mon Valley.
The Christmas Cheer Club at the former Valley Independent was a key driver in the Monessen Salvation Army Citadel’s annual toy drive. We at the Mon Valley Independent have continued that tradition by asking readers to join the Christmas Cheer Club by bringing unwrapped toys valued at a minimum of $5 to our office at 996 Donner Ave. in Monessen. As always, we will photograph club members with their donated toys and publish them in the Mon Valley Independent. It is our way of recognizing area residents who are willing to help children who might otherwise face a Christmas morning without gifts under their trees.
