Editorial: First responders deserve praise

THE JOB OF A FIRST RESPONDER isn’t easy. Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel are called upon 24/7 to take care of the public safety needs of others.

And there’s no time clock or calendar when it comes to this type of work. Paid or volunteer, these folks work around the clock to make sure their fellow citizens are safe, often getting called away from their families at mealtime, holidays or in the middle of the night.
