A Mon Valley attorney was recognized for his decades-long dedication to his community by the Washington County Bar Association.
Herman J. Bigi, a partner of Bigi & Walsh in Charleroi, received the Certificate of Meritorious Service for community service by the Washington County Bar Association. He received the award during the association’s Annual Bar Banquet in Canonsburg.
The award reflects service to the community and citizens of Washington County and surrounding regions.
Bigi graduated from Waynesburg University in 1960 as an honor student and from West Virginia College of Law in 1963.
Following his graduation, he worked as a claims adjuster for Travelers Insurance Co. in Pittsburgh, before beginning his law practice as a solo practitioner in 1965.
Later, he became a member of the law firm of Hormell, Tempest, Simmons, Bigi and Melenyzer.
He now practices with Jason M. Walsh in Charleroi.
Bigi was presented the award by fellow attorney and professional committee member Alan Benyak.
“I am honored to be here this evening to present the Bar Association’s Certificate of Meritorious Service to our colleague Herman Bigi,” Benyak said. “Herman Bigi is a citizen whose entire life has embodied the ethic of service to his country and community, from his service as a young Marine in the 1950s, to serving in our County government and, more importantly, his many hours of involvement with local charities and causes.”
