Valley Oldies: Stockdale dances trace genesis to early firefighters, insistent teens

Please don’t tell me it’s been that long. Not 61 years ago.
The year was 1957. A chilly night in December.
A small “Special Notice” advertisement on Page One of The Charleroi Mail that day alerted teenagers in the Mon Valley this way:
DANCE
Stockdale Fire Hall, Tonight, 8 to 11 p.m., “Popular D.J.” Admission 50 cents.
