Cal U grant to promote beer-related research

California University of Pennsylvania will soon expand its plant biology program through a unique hop yard, thanks to a state grant.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced this week that the university was awarded $72,500 from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to establish and maintain a research and educational hop yard, which will serve as a hub focused on sustainable production of hops, disease management and growing conditions that will increase hop yield and growing success.
