Forward Township supervisors say the prospect of PennDOT taking time and money this year to repair state-owned roads in the township appear bleak.
Supervisors Thomas DeRosa, Dave Magiske and Ron Skrinjorich informed residents at Monday’s board meeting that they, along with police Chief Travis Stoffer and District Manager Alison Piccolino from Democratic state Sen. Jim Brewster’s McKeesport office, recently took a PennDOT District 11 representative on a tour of state-maintained roads that are crumbling.
District 11 is responsible for the state-maintained transportation network in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties.
DeRosa said supervisors wanted PennDOT to be able to see that Gallatin, Sunnyside Hollow and Bunola River roads and portions of state Route 136 that run through the township are crumbling, experiencing landslides and are riddled with deep potholes.
