Trial set in alleged assault

A Charleroi man accused of smashing his girlfriend’s head into the wall and assaulting her while she was holding her 3-year-old toddler was ordered to stand trial in Washington County Court.
William M. Jackson, 58, of Fallowfield Avenue waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday on charges of simple assault and harassment for the alleged assault before Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins in Charleroi.
Charleroi Regional Police received a call from Washington County 911 around 8:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve for a report of an assault at a Fallowfield Avenue residence.
The woman told police Jackson struck her in the face and smashed her head into a wall following an argument.
