Elizabeth Borough is making strides toward appointing a new face of its police department.
Borough council unanimously passed a motion Tuesday night to establish a panel of interviewers for the open police chief position.
Letters will be sent to members of the panel, which is expected to include law enforcement professionals, local police chiefs, former state troopers and potentially a reprentative from the Elizabeth Forward School District.
Members of the panel will conduct the first round of interviews with the eight applicants at a date and time to be determined.
