Family advocate coordinator to be added

The Charleroi Area School District is taking a new approach to ensure the success of students by creating a new position, but the focus of the job will start at home.
During a business meeting Tuesday night, school board directors unanimously approved an agreement with Southwest Behavioral Health that will provide services to students and their families to help all children reach their potential in the classroom.
“We have been discussing this for a few months and I am really excited about it,” Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich said. “There is an amazing need in this district for resources to help families. We see it every day; there is a crisis.
“How can students come to school and learn if they have all of these different things they and their families are dealing with at home. These kids go through a lot of things and their families are going through a lot of different things.”
