James F. Ball – Monongahela
James F. Ball, 80, of Monongahela, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Oct. 14, 1938, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late Frank and Cornelia Balough Ball. A graduate of Monongahela High School, Jim served from 1961 to 1963 as a radio operator in the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. In 1964, he opened Jim’s Service Center in Victory Hill, where he continued working with his wife Sally until their retirement in 2011. He was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, the former Transfiguration Church, in Monongahela. He enjoyed bowling in leagues with his wife and friends, listening to old music, classic cars and never missed the first day of trout season. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Micenko of Rostraver; a brother, William and wife Nancy Ball of Monongahela, Victory Hill; two grandsons, Daniel Rapp (Alley McCumbes) of Donora and David “DJ” Rapp of Monongahela; and a great-granddaughter, Aralyn Elaine Rapp. Preceding him in death were his wife, Sally Ann (Dunn) Ball, who died June 11, 2015, and sister, Jean Hough. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2019, with Deacon Alex Poroda officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
