BVA hopes to find its next superintendent soon

Belle Vernon Area School Board is still seeking candidates to fill its superintendent position.
Last month, board members narrowly approved initiating a “professional and ethical executive search” with assistance from The Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
Acting Superintendent Dr. Michele Dowell was appointed earlier this year following the resignation of former Superintendent Dr. John Wilkinson. Since then, board members have been divided on how to permanently fill the position before next school year.
Dowell, who has been with the district for almost 10 years, was briefly named substitute superintendent before receiving the “acting” title.
