McKeesport Community Fund marks first year

Local elected officials, community leaders and interested citizens gathered for a community mixer Friday to celebrate the McKeesport Community Fund’s first year of service to the city.
The fund was established in 2017 by PurePenn LLC to support local residents and organizations in their efforts to revitalize the city of McKeesport.
PurePenn was one of the first 12 facilities in Pennsylvania authorized to grow and process medical marijuana. Local political leaders worked together to bring PurePenn — and 25 much-needed jobs — to the city.
PurePenn’s commitment to revitalizing the city was one of the primary reasons that McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko, State Rep. Austin Davis and State Sen. Jim Brewster lent their support to the enterprise. All three attended Friday’s event to celebrate PurePenn’s success.
