Area man accused of kidnapping and rape

A Charleroi man is behind bars after being accused of holding a woman against her will and sexually assaulting her for nearly 48 hours last week.
Ryan Walker, 44, was arraigned Monday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins in Charleroi on charges of kidnap to inflict injury or terror, unlawful restraint, strangulation, simple assault, rape, burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and false imprisonment.
He was placed in the Washington County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Charleroi Regional Police Detective Chad Zelinsky said he was dispatched to Dollar General at 9:40 a.m. Jan. 31 in response to a female employee who said she was being held against her will and assaulted by her former brother-in-law, Walker, an affidavit of probable cause states.
