Child falls through ice in McKeesport

A three-year-old boy had to be taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Monday afternoon after falling through ice and into an a large pond filled with cold water in McKeesport’s Renziehausen Park.
Allegheny County 911 dispatchers confirmed that emergency responders were sent to the scene at 4:27 p.m. Monday, according to Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs.
The caller told the 911 dispatcher that the child appeared to be drowning, according to Downs.
McKeesport Fire Chief Jeffrey Tomovcsik was not on scene during the incident, but said the boy, who had not been identified, was conscious when emergency medical technicians from McKeesport Ambulance Rescue Service arrived on scene.
