Monessen officials respond to Shorraw
By the MV Independent
Two Monessen councilmen and the city’s controller recently responded to accusations leveled against them by Mayor Matt Shorraw.
Last month, Shorraw, who has missed 24 consecutive council meetings, said he has been in regular contact with state and federal agencies in attempts to address his many concerns about past and present city business.
Councilman Anthony Orzechowski said his response to Shorraw’s allegations is a council meeting segment he calls “Fact Checking with Matt.”
Shorraw alleges that council delayed the awarding of the police and fire pension fund contract, but Orzechowski said the delay was due to a third party solicitor bowing out of the process due to conflicts of interest.
