Area couple charged for not taking baby to the hospital

Two West Newton parents accused of failing to take their newborn daughter to the hospital at the recommendation of a pediatrician have been released from Westmoreland County Jail.
Robert J. Aquilina, 38, and Tiffany M. Aquilina, 37, of West Main Street, are each charged with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.
Charges were filed by West Newton police at the office of Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner in Rostraver Township on Friday.
The parents were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Denise Thiel Saturday morning and placed in the Westmoreland County Jail, each in lieu of $50,000 monetary bond.
