First water tests OK

The Authority of the Borough of Charleroi received good news Friday.

Water tests completed Thursday came back negative for bacteria.

If tests completed Friday have the same results, a boil water advisory in four Mon Valley communities could end sometime this afternoon — four days after the precautionary measure was issued.

Residents in North Charleroi, Charleroi, Speers and Monessen have been under the advisory since Tuesday when a transmission line broke in Monessen.
