The career of arguably the best girls basketball player to come out of Frazier came to an end Friday.
Brooke Poling scored a team-high 20 points for Frazier, but the seventh-seeded Commodores were unable to overcome 30 fouls called against them and four players fouling out in a 60-56 first-round loss to Winchester Thurston at Charleroi High School.
“I can’t say how proud I am of this team. We fought and played so hard the whole game,” Frazier head coach Ken Poling said. “But we literally needed everyone that came over here on the bus tonight. It became too much to overcome late.”
Poling was joined in double figures by Sierra Twigg, who finished with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Twigg played most of the second half with four fouls until she was whistled for a questionable fifth and fouled out with 5:42 left to play.
