Several area school districts, through a collaborative effort, are aiming to develop a state-wide model for STEM education using a nearly half a million dollar grant, thanks to a partnership with South Fayette School District.
On Monday, Gov. Tom Wolf announced $9.6 million in PAsmart advancing grants that will go to 23 partnerships across the state to help support quality educational opportunities and experiences to K-12 students in computer science and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs.
They were available in two funding tiers, targeted grants of up to $35,000 and advancing grants of up to $500,000.
The latest funding, secured by Wolf in the 2018-19 budget, places Pennsylvania second in the nation in investments in K-12 education in STEM and computer science.
