Bonnie E. Brown – Monongahela
Bonnie E. Brown, 93, of Monongahela, passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2019, at Mt. Macrina Manor, Uniontown, after a struggle with COPD. Born June 19, 1925, in Athens County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William McKinley Fisher and Faye Pansy Cook. She was a longtime resident of The Residence at Hilltop in Monongahela. After her marriage to Vernon Brown Sr., she moved to Monongahela. After many years of being a homemaker, she took up employment with the USPS as one of the first female rural carriers. Bonnie and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, the western states of our beautiful country and camping in Ontario, Canada. They were lifelong Steelers fans with season tickets until they moved to Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her son, Vernon Jr., who was killed in an automobile accident in 1965. Her husband passed in December of 1999, in Maui, Hawaii. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Faye Brown of New York; a sister, Velva Duckworth of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends will be received at FRYE FUNERAL HOME, 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating services, the Rev. Diane Hobson, pastor of Mount Sinai Baptist Church, Charleroi. Internment in Monongahela Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 645 McMahon Ave., Monessen, PA 15062. Trudy Taylor is the director in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
