Route 906 landslide becomes more severe

A landslide on Route 906 between Belle Vernon and Fayette City is still on the move.
A portion of the road has been shut down since May 15 following a rockslide. As rain and winter weather sporadically hit the Mon Valley and temperatures continue to fluctuate, the slide is continuing to get worse.
“It is still moving; it’s still sliding,” Jackson said. “It’s not a good situation at all.”
Since the road first closed last year, rocks have continued to fall, creating dangerous conditions for drivers who choose to ignore the road closure.
Movement on the hillside, which has not yet been stabilized, continues to push debris, including boulders as big as cars, across the roadway.
