Elizabeth Forward Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin beamed with pride Wednesday night as he acknowledged the school board for being named a 2018-19 D. Richard Wynn School Board award recipient.
The board was selected for the Distinguished School Board award by the Tri-State Area School Study Council from the University of Pittsburgh.
The honor stems from the board’s efforts to work towards a financially stable budget and from the district being recognized as a member of the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools and an Apple Distinguished Program.
Keruskin nominated the board for the honor.
“Where we are with our fund balance and our capital improvements is because of the tough decisions that you have made over the last several years and how far we have come with the district with technology and all the advancements,” Keruskin said. “I’m just really proud of this board.”
The award will be presented to school directors during the 71st annual Distinguished Educator and School Board Banquet at the Edgewood Country Club on March 7.
The Hampton School Board was also selected as an award recipient.
“The Elizabeth Forward School Board is extremely honored to accept this award from the Tri-State Study Council,” said board president Tom Sharkey. “As a board, we are working extremely hard to make smart fiscal decisions without sacrificing the quality of the educational experience for our kids. We are so proud of our school district, from our staff to our students.”
