A Monessen man who allegedly attempted “suicide by cop” earlier this month will stand trial on multiple charges relating to the incident after waiving a preliminary hearing Friday in Magisterial District Court in Monessen.
Joseph Selinger Jr. of First Street faces five counts of aggravated assault, six counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of making terroristic threats and one count each of resisting arrest, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct and harassment.
He was released on his own recognizance Friday from Westmoreland County Jail, where he was being held on $75,000 bond, and is scheduled for a plea court hearing at 9 a.m. April 24 in Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas in front of Judge Christopher Feliciani.
Selinger was arrested Feb. 10 after an incident around 6 p.m. on Knox Avenue in which a woman told police an armed man was threatening her from a neighboring backyard. Police allegedly found a man, later identified as Selinger, kneeling in the grass with a rifle in his hands and his finger on the trigger.
