Mon Valley residents living in Allegheny County will no longer have to drive to Pittsburgh to appeal assessments on their real estate values.
Forward Township Supervisor Dave Magiske announced this week that residents in Forward Township, Elizabeth Township, Elizabeth Borough, West Elizabeth Borough and Clairton will be able to submit their appeals at the Forward Township Municipal building.
In past years, residents wishing to appeal the assessed value of their property would have to file the required forms and then travel to Pittsburgh for a hearing.
The travel, parking costs and the walk to the county office building made this difficult for some residents, Magiske said.
