A Charleroi man was killed early Saturday morning in a fire at his residence, and police said he was in the front yard covered by flames when they arrived.
Washington County Coroner S. Timothy Warco said James Harbaugh, 62, was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m. at 118 Rear Fallowfield Ave. A manner and cause of death are still pending, according to Warco.
The coroner’s office is trying to track down Harbaugh’s family or friends and asks anyone with information to call 724-228-6785.
“(Police) arrived first and actually found Mr. Harbaugh out in the yard on fire burning,” Charleroi Fire Chief Bob Whiten Jr. said. “My guys got there right behind them and we used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames that were on him. Then my guys and the police concentrated on reviving him. They tried and tried, but it was too late. He was already deceased.”
