Coach of the Year: Drennen gave Leopards the right push

After losing its head coach and five senior starters, expectations were cloudy for the Belle Vernon Area girls basketball program.
Loaded with young talent but not much game experience, people may not have been sure what to expect.
Enter Ronnie Drennen. The assistant coach of the boys team in previous seasons felt the time was right and made the move to the girls’ game and the move paid off.
The Leopards finished 14-9 overall with a 10-4 record in a rugged Section 3-4A.
