Gregory Nemchick will never forget saying goodbye to his brother as he left for Vietnam in 1965.
He asked Michael Nemchick, “When will you be coming back?” and his big brother replied, “I’m not sure I will be coming back.”
“My brother seemed to know something bad was going to happen, but he didn’t let that stop him,” Gregory said.
Michael was right about his fate. He was struck by a sniper’s bullet and died on Feb. 22, 1966, six days before his 19th birthday.
