Hounds’ season ends with loss in PIAA semis

If Monessen was to beat Vincentian Academy, if the Greyhounds were going to get revenge for their previous loss to the Royals in the WPIAL semifinals, Dan Bosnic knew his team would have to grind it out.
A hypothetical win would not be pretty. No, Monessen would have to get it done by controlling the boards, by playing staunch defense and evidently, by winning a close, ugly game. And to do so, to execute that gameplan, Monessen would have to be on the ball by outhustling and outpositioning Vincentian (20-8).
Monessen (18-10) didn’t quite have the tools to get it done, falling 57-43 to Vincentian Academy in Monday’s PIAA Class A semifinals.
The Greyhound were outscored, 37-20, providing the first and second nails in the coffin.
