After nearly eight years of contract negotiations, two neighboring municipalities have reached a new agreement on sanitary sewage service.
On Friday, the Municipal Authority of the City of Monongahela and the Carroll Township Authority announced they have reached a new 15-year agreement that will take effect May 1.
The new agreement will ensure sanitary sewage treatment for residents of Carroll Township, where sewage has traditionally been treated at the Monongahela Authority sewage treatment plant.
According to the original agreement, Monongahela would accept up to 700,000 gallons a day to be charged at a rate determined by a method specified in the pact.
