Allenport facility gets $4M grant

A shuttered Mon Valley steel mill site may soon serve a new purpose.
Thanks to a $4 million state grant, Allenport’s former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. site is expected to be revitalized for new manufacturing jobs.
State Rep. Bud Cook, R-West Pike Run Township, announced Tuesday that the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the Business in Our Sites grant, along with a $6 million BIOS loan to assist the Washington County Redevelopment Authority with the site’s repurposing.
An independent agency, the financing authority holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
