Several Mon Valley projects were addressed Thursday as Washington County Chamber of Commerce held its seventh annual State of The Economy event.
Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober Jr. joined chamber of commerce President Jeff Kotula and more than 300 area business leaders at The Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh/Southpointe in Canonsburg. Discussion focused on economic growth, new job opportunities in the county, funds generated from the Washington County Local Share Account and the impact the energy and manufacturing sectors have on Washington County and its residents.
The commissioners and Kotula highlighted economic development projects that accounted for nearly $560 million in capital investment in the county over the past year.
Kotula said the county was able to make $7.4 million worth of additional investments county-wide thanks to money generated through the LSA. He said an additional $11.7 million was invested in the county in 2018 via public and private resources.
