Thank God that the first impressions are not always the most lasting.
If so, I probably would have never considered John Zunic such a dear friend.
You see, I first got to know John over 35 years ago … back in the early 1980s.
I managed an adult softball team called Reginelli’s Sportsworld and we played in the extremely competitive Monessen Slo-Pitch League.
John was an umpire. He umpired youth and high school baseball. He also umpired in the Monessen softball league.
As the manager of Reginelli’s, I was pretty much a fiery, quick-witted, sharp-tongued individual who didn’t take any crap, but was quick to give it. And, of course, I knew more than most people did.

So, you get the picture.
Yeah, we clashed during games.
A lot.
