Trial set in child welfare case

A West Newton couple accused of failing to take their newborn daughter to the hospital at the recommendation of a pediatrician have been ordered to stand trial.
Robert J. Aquilina, 38, and Tiffany M. Aquilina, 37, of West Main Street appeared Monday before Magisterial District Judge Charles Christner in Rostraver Township.
The pair waived their rights to preliminary hearings on charges of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person stemming from the Feb. 8 incident.
West Newton police received a call from Westmoreland 911 after a pediatrician phoned concerning the welfare of a child.
